am reading ernest hemingway - a farewell to arms
its about the author's experience fighting during world war 1 - brutal yet a fascinating read.
his collection of short stories have always been a favourite

I read A Farewell to Arms... good book, though you should know Hemingway didn't actually fight in WW1, he was a volunteer for the red cross.
Have you read All Quiet on the Western Front? I thought that was a good book.

Stephen E. Ambrose would be the obvious one. His books are brilliant. Then there is Cornelius Ryan who wrote the longest day.

It seems no one has read any books for the last six months. I just bought the book Midshipman's Hope. I read it several years ago and now I am rereading it.

After I finished Midshipman's Hope, I bought Challenger's Hope and Prisoner's Hope. Now I have to find Fisherman's Hope.Bookworm wrote: It seems no one has read any books for the last six months. I just bought the book Midshipman's Hope. I read it several years ago and now I am rereading it.
Currently I am listening to a book on tape called What If. It is a series of essays describing what would have happened in history if something slightly different had occured. For example, if the Japanese had won the Battle of Midway, they most likely would have gone on to attack Hawaii. They already had plans in the works to do that.
