I'm reading the 'Alabama Driver Manual'

So far, it hasn't told me to run over people that make me angry.

am reading ernest hemingway - a farewell to arms
its about the author's experience fighting during world war 1 - brutal yet a fascinating read.
his collection of short stories have always been a favourite

anyone recommend war writers i can take a look at?

I read A Farewell to Arms... good book, though you should know Hemingway didn't actually fight in WW1, he was a volunteer for the red cross.

Have you read All Quiet on the Western Front? I thought that was a good book.

Stephen Crane wrote The Red Badge of Courage. That's a good story.

Stephen E. Ambrose would be the obvious one. His books are brilliant. Then there is Cornelius Ryan who wrote the longest day.

It seems no one has read any books for the last six months. I just bought the book Midshipman's Hope. I read it several years ago and now I am rereading it.

No, it's a great book. You just don't want to be reading it.

After I finished Midshipman's Hope, I bought Challenger's Hope and Prisoner's Hope. Now I have to find Fisherman's Hope.

Currently I am listening to a book on tape called What If. It is a series of essays describing what would have happened in history if something slightly different had occured. For example, if the Japanese had won the Battle of Midway, they most likely would have gone on to attack Hawaii. They already had plans in the works to do that.

I'm still reading the same book I've been reading for quite some time...probably 6 months. It's a pretty big book. "Kingdom of fear" - Hunter S. Thompson.
