Server saves seems to be increasing in length, had one today that was 22.7seconds.
Personally I feel this is unacceptable, I think in future I'm going to go and make a pot of roasted coffee every time I see the server save message, I should be back in time to see how long it takes.
Anything you can do about it Red???

I'm aware of that. The current RunUO save system is inefficient and unsalable. The save times increase as the amount of data increases.
When we do the shard revamp we will be redesigning the storage engine to eliminate saves or at least shorten them to only save the data that changed since the last save.

Ya I always hated how they did their save system. Basically they re-save everything so as items, npcs, statics, etc etc increase, the longer it takes to save. As red mentioned, each item should have a state that is checked and if the state has actually changed, then those items get saved.Red Squirrel wrote:I'm aware of that. A 22.7 second world save is rather unusual though as they are roughly around 9 seconds to 12 seconds or so.

If there was any kind of disk i/o happening at the time it may have caused it. The server is in a VM that is on a bigger server so could of been anything such as a backup job. The UO backup job supresses the save if it's in the process of backing up that part.
