Re: Wood stove install

Yeah the fact that it went up that high, and will probably keep going up, is what made me give in. The wood is going to be relatively free other than gas for my truck to go get it. My next step is to start incorporating solar more into my house as well, since hydro is another cost that I could work ...

Re: Wood stove install

According to the Enbridge site it's 13.6488 cents/cubic metre but there's a bunch of extra fees and taxes as well so it's hard to tell for sure what it comes up to or if those are included, they're not really clear. My typical bill last year was $170/mo, this year it's been adjusted down to $100 and...

Fix has now been pushed to prod. New or old accounts shouldn't get this error anymore.

Board preferences invalid language error

If you try to submit your board preferences such as time zone you may have been previously getting an error about invalid language. This should be resolved for existing accounts at this point, but the fix has not been pushed to prod yet so it may affect any accounts that get created after this annou...

Wood stove install

Couple years back my Embridge gas bill skyrocketed and I decided to get a wood stove. Trudeau's carbon tax sure doesn't help either. After not being able to find anyone to install it and just being given the run around I decided to do it myself. Figured I'd share the process. IMG_20221113_141835.jpg...

Re: Offgrid Homestead Build

Grass is starting to grow in already which will help make the ground more stable. Also brought in a small shelter so I don't have to pack so much stuff when I go there. Can leave camping chairs and stuff behind now.

Re: Anandtech on the ropes

Yeah I don't really have any plans to shut this place down even though it's dead. I still need to send a mass email to all the old timers to see if some may come back just have not gotten around to it yet. The forum has actually been going on since early 2000 under different names. Only recently did...

Re: Anandtech on the ropes

Yeah this would probably be the a stable place as I have no intention of ending it. I have posts going back to the early 2000's on here. The forum itself is a relaunch and is fairly new, but the data itself is still old and has survived decades. It doesn't really cost me that much to keep it going. ...

Lol yeah that's not right...

I honestly don't police stuff as much as I should, but not going to let an obvious one like this alone. Buh bye!

Is this the one?

I just issued a password reset. It's odd it was not letting you though, as the shard is still in the database.

Re: UOGateway

You should be able to initiate a password reset on it, and it will send you an email. If that doesn't work let me know the name of the shard.

Crowdstrike blue screen of death (BSOD) fix

1: Go into safe mode 2: Open a command prompt and navigate to the right folder by doing " cd C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike " 3: Delete all files that match C-00000291*.sys by doing del C-00000291*.sys (optionally you can backup that folder first to be safe) 4: Reboot, and it shou...

Re: Offgrid Homestead Build

Day 4: All done! I didn't go today so these are pics they sent me. Total cost was $10,994.60 ($8650 for clearing + $2344.60 for gravel) As I post this we're getting a huge storm so they finished just in time. Next steps is to start building an outhouse and shed. Outhouse might be tricky as the groun...

Day 3: More dirt being moved, and 3 dump truck loads of gravel arrived. They should finish up tomorrow. They will install a new culvert and finish packing down the road. I'm not covering the entire opening with dirt as I was not even planing on this to begin with so this is more like a bonus and don...

Day 2 clearing progress pictures. Fixing up entrance to make it wider and also using some of the material in the area to build up the road going in to the property. Also going to have a bigger culvert. IMG_20240617_110557.jpg IMG_20240617_121247.jpg IMG_20240617_121732.jpg IMG_20240617_151634.jpg Cl...

Offgrid Homestead Build

A few years ago I bought some off grid land, and today the shovel has hit the ground. Clearing a road, and then an area to actually start building. I had attempted to do it myself last year but it was quite futile without the right equipment. Pretty excited to have the ball rolling with this. Goal i...

Re: Shard Not Listed

The shard does not appear to be up, so it will not list if it detects it's been down for a while, or if it's new if it's not up at all initially. is it actually up right now? If yes there may be some connectivity issues, are other players able to login? I just tricked it into thinking it's up, so it...

Re: Bought an Eltek Rectifier Shelf

Relocated the two hydro feeds, added 2 solar feeds, and 2 spares for future expansion. I suppose 80 amps of available power at the rack is quite overkill when my whole equipment rack uses like 800watts. Had been meaning to do this for a while since the existing feeds were in a really awkward l...

Re: Bought an Eltek Rectifier Shelf

Racked, hooked up to temporary battery pack, and connected to 1200w inverter. The wiring is not that great, but I plan to redo all of it permanently once I buy some proper #2 wire and lugs. Powering my whole rack now, the old UPS is plugged into the inverter, so if this dies the existing UPS will ta...
