Squirrel vs Machine

Tools required:
- Hammer (to pry bar out of the way)
- plyers (may help dent bar to desired shape before cutting on end)
- dremel (to do all cutting)
- safety glasses (to be able to see after you're done)
- flat screw driver (to unscrew grinded screws)
- vacuum (to clean up all the nice metal dust all over)

Directions:

1. Remove annoying metal bar that old cases always have, using the dremel and hammer.

2. cut straight line through the head of the screw

3. Unscrew with flat screw driver.

Works great on stripped screws!

Note: This method is often seen in use on very old computers.

Had to rebuild a computer for someone. It's a computer that was in a shop so it's very dirty inside, screws were finished. etc.. the whole thing has done it's time. Right now I'm installing the stuff on the new PC. Man nothing feels cleaner then a brand new win2k installation.

Wouldn't it have been easier to just buy a new case? They're not exactly expensive.

I did, but had to get the drives out of the old one (that one) to get them in the new one. I was scared this cutting would of damaged the drives but I was being careful.

That really does beg the question: If you had to cut them out how were they put in to begin with?

The screw was accessable by a screw driver, but not a dremel, it was a really weird corner, you sort of have to screw in an angle, which is probably why they were jamed in the the point of having to grind them off.

This is not the worse case I've seen though. I've worked with compaqs a few time.
