W32\Netsky.p.eml!exe

Post by Fuzzy_Fox »

I don't know if it's the same one every time, I don't open outlook for my parents e-mail for them very often. McAfee's always alerting me that it's found a virus everytime I open outlook though. Ok, I tried opening outlook just for the heck of it again just now. Upon receiving it's new e-mails.....random viruses were found, one was the same aas the one I just mentioned, although the rest are different...well actually it says Netsky.p@MM!zip. My mom says that she keeps getting the same e-mails over and over again, it might just be spam, she deletes them before I take a look at them though. Of the 58-ish e-mails that have appeard just now, 6 or so were from McAfee telling me how it deleted the infected e-mails. Sometimes the e-mail's POP sever isn't responding. The e-mails that were received are from the 9th to today. I'll go ask my mom if she got any of the real looking e-mails before, it seems kind of strange that she would keep getting them over and over again. If my computer hasen't died by tomorrow, I'll and report any other details :P .

Still alive and well 10 minutes later. I try to receive the 88 messages it's trying to pass through outlook to get here. 68 was the higest it's gotten so far. When I try and receive them later, it starts at the 88 again, so I get more copies of the first messages again. I think it's time to tell my mom to not use outlook anymore :no no no: .

Either she opened a virus that keeps sending to the same email (DoS?) or she has a friend that opened one. Either way, getting this much is usually not normal. Run a full virus scan to see if it's a virus already on the system. Just let them download overnight or connect to the pop server with telnet and delete them. I don't remember all the commands though so you'll have to check google, I believe if you type "flush" once logged in it deletes them all at once, but I may be wrong.

edit: my bad, the command is dele 1 where 1 is the email number. If you do list it shows them.

By the looks of it, it tries to get the 88 messages here, stops about hlaf way saying "pop not responding, do you want to wait or stop it", I've tried to wait, but 60 seconds later still no response. So when I try to receive again, it starts from the begining  .My suggestion is stop using outlook mom, please!!!! lol

outlook is bad for that.

Log on using telnet the commands are:

telnet mail.server.com 110
user [username]
pass [password]
list
(you will see emails starting from 1 to 80)
dele 1
dele 2
(etc)

quit

Then they'll be gone. To read an email typ retr 1 or whatever number you want to see. There's a command to flush it all at once, but I can't seem to figure it out now.
