Canadian, European protesters mark anniversary of Iraq war

TORONTO - Protesters have gathered in Toronto to demonstrate against U.S.-led occupation of Iraq, and to try and prevent potential attacks in Syria and Iran in the future.

Earlier Saturday, thousands of demonstrators took to streets in Europe Saturday to protest against the war in Iraq.
The the U.S.-led coalition began the war exactly two years ago, on March 19, 2003.

British police estimated 45,000 people marched past the U.S. embassy in London, where opposition to Britain's participation in the war has been intense.
Two former British soliders placed a cardboard coffin outside the building.
There were also protests in Norway, Greece, Italy, Sweden and Turkey and marches are planned in Spain.
Demonstrations are expected in several other Canadian cities later Saturday.
