It’s beginning to to look a lot like ... spring?

Wearing just an undershirt and sporting Oakley sunglasses, Rob Cook, a Tele Tech employee who has been trying to spend as much time outside as he can these days, appeared more ready for the beach than a normal November day in Northern Ontario on the street this week.

“I’m soaking it up,” Cook said. “If we can get an extra few days of decent temperature where you can catch the last few rays of the season, I’m in for it.”

With daytime highs this week hovering at just over 10 C, temperatures have been close to record-breaking.

A high of 12.5 C was recorded in November in 1981.

“The normal for this time of year is usually around -8 C for night temperatures and -1 C for the high,” Andre Cyr, a forecaster for Environment Canada said. “This week’s highs are definitely above normal.”

Higher temperatures are not just happening in Timmins, Cyr said.

There have been warm winds blowing across the whole province.

“It happens from time to time,” Cyr said. “We’ll see a little mild spell coming across ever so many years. It’s difficult to explain why it’s happening, but the jet stream is a little further North, which gives us the warmer air at this point.”

Well could be since if the jet stream is more north maybe it caused some kind of cold curent to go down. I'd have to study this stuff more to understand what's going on but my guess is that it has to do with that.

Well I'm in Nova Scotia and today was pretty darn warm I'd have to say. It's really kind of weird but I certainly don't mind a bit.

Yeah it's nice, and given we're not getting lot of rain it's good. But I just hope we get snow by christmas. Not that it's the end of the world or anything but I just want snow on Christmas. :P Watch this, we'll get a storm *on* Christmas.

Ya, remember 2 years ago? We had a thunderstorm on December 10th. It was actually 10 degrees. I was angry, no snow for that time made it feel as though it weren't even Christmas. That year, Christmas lasted 1 week. Hopefully the snow comes shortly. I'm beginning to want the snow for the Christmassy feel. It's just not the same without snow. I don't know how the people in Florida do it, without snow. There's just something I don't understand. Probably 'cause I'm from the North. Well, we had better get a blizzard some day soon. Sure the shoveling will be a pain, but at least it'll look more like Christmas
