Organized home page news more

Seperated news posts into "editions" for every time I do a news update (Basically once a day) and made a seperate table for each edition. Since this is somewhat allot of php processing (it has to check if a news post is actually a post, or just an edition seperator) so I'm thinking of making it so the home page will be static, and only update every 30 minutes or whatever. I'm actually considering doing this to various parts of the site, even articles (would be more complicated though )
