yuck, more ads! :P

Post by Red Squirrel »

I'm playing around with ads and expect to see a bit more now around the site. :D

Don't worry, I try to avoid graphical ones that are big in file size, and I avoid animated ones at all cost, unless it's very minor undistracting animation. And I will never ever put pop ups on the site ever. That's one thing I'll never do. And trust me it's hard not to since some can pay as much as a dollar per click, but I don't want to render this site into popup village just for a few extra bucks.

I'm sure tak will like them though, since they use CSS.

lmao ok for one red you can put as meny ad's on the site as ya want cuz most of us know ya work hard for that few cents ;)

pop ups? lol most of your loyal members will probly never see em if thay using stuff like mozilla (pop up blocker) so use em if ya like :biglaugh: just make sure thay dont go through pop up blocker

my only problem with ad's is sound .... if you lissen to music well searching the net you leave sites with sound behind cuz it messes with music  n i like my music

just no sound and you wont hear any b***ing from me :)

Sound ads... those are even more evil then popups, I'd never put those. ;)

I notice the ad I put is slow, so I put it on the 404 pages and I'll only keep it on the forum for a bit, until I find something else.

That one is temp though, once I get approved somewhere else I'll be putting a smaller one there and make it blend it more. That one is way too slow, it ain't staying.

I have no problem with seeing advertisements on Iceteks, but I feel that the forum advertisments don’t really flow with the design. The advertisement box is really noticeable. That is the point I guess, but it takes attention away from the rest of your site.

In my opinion, your advertisements should not share space with your logo, and they should not go before your logo. (Westerners tend to look at things from left to right and top to bottom since that is how we read and write.) When I look at the top of your page, my eyes go to the advertisements before your own logo. It just pops out more. I don’t think that is good for your brand, something I would consider more important than advertisements. Moving the advertisement box down would kill this problem. You don’t have to move it down much. Keeping it “above the fold” (the area that doesn’t require vertical scrolling) may be a good idea. If you make it blend in more and if you move to down, consider labelling it as advertisements so no one will confuse it with actual site content.

I love those advertisements that race around the screen and mask the main content! Aren’t those wonderful? We need some of those. B)

I can always center a big div in the middle of the whole screen.

I might also put it at the same place as the google ads, where there's none of course. I might even get a better CTR that way.
