I'm curious, do you have a USB HotSync?
If you do: unfortunately, my friend, your palm is suffering from an ESD problem that had a recall awhile ago, but is over now :(

I know the page is regarding HotSync problems, but I've heard that the ESD also causes the Palm to randomly turn on and off.

you know your the only one that remembers that?

i have this same question on other forums just worded differently and nobody else remembers or has any idea what is wrong.

THANKS. i read the page it has the statement that the eds can jump from you hand into the usb port on the palm. and since we can not connect by usb anymore i think that is what has happened. now if we can just figure out how to get the programs and data backed up.

since i know palm has stopped supporting the m505 now.

i think i also posted some time ago about this loseing the usb drivers in winMe for it.?

still only you knew the answer :D

If you need an alternative way to backup the data, here's a serial cable for the m505 for the cheap:

touble is that the site you posted first said the sync software is the software that gets fried as well as some other software?

so that means all sync is not able to be done not even beaming.

it is my sisters palm 505 and she has sworn off any more things she has started putting her work phone book back on paper and is going to chunk this electronic crap as she says.

Well, Paper is more reliable, but it's more prone to spontaniously combusting, so it's more dangerous

If the data on the palm is very important, this WILL cure it of the ESD problem:

thanks but i know she dont want it she has already set the palm on the charger and put it in the corner and let it run she is typing the info in to the computer so she can print it out. then since the palm is in the corner it will be used for a nightlight until it frys completely.

she dont want it no more she is fed up with it. but it makes a nice blue night light B)
