Windows and Iraq

Post by Red Squirrel »

I was installing win2k and scrolled down the EULA to the bottom like we all do but I noticed the word "Iraq" so it caught my attention and I scrolled back up to find it, and here's what it says:

10. EXPORT RESTRICTIONS. Recipient agrees that
Recipient will not export or re-export the Product or
Documentation to any country, person or entity subject to U.S.
export restrictions. Recipient specifically agrees not to export
or re-export the Product or Documentation (i) to any country to
which the U. S. has embargoes or restricted the export of
goods or services which currently include but are not
necessarily limited to Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea,
Sudan and Syria, or to any national of any such country,
wherever located, who intends to transmit or transport the
Product or Documentation back to such country;

You know what's fishy? Windows 2000 came out way before the whole Iraq war, in fact, it came out before September 11 (2001).

So this just shows how the US government has things going on with these countries that we don't quite know about.

I found this to be quite interesting.

I did a search for "iraq" and these files showed up

That was probably because Saddam Hussein was still in power....and being the tyrant he is, I dont' think the US does much selling to them

yep iraq might be in those files red because some words might be spelled with it in them.

that is also true tw2

we are a free country and if they came here on a visa and bought a windows os they could take it back with them as it would be theirs. but we are not to give it to them.

as for it being in the rules guys the country has been on the terriost list just bout since the 1970's so that is why it is in the rules it was on the list..
