UD server downtime information

We will be performing some system upgrades and maintenance on Monday Sept. 22, 2003 @ 1400UTC. The downtime is expected to take approx 8 hours.

During this time agents will be unable to submit or get new work from the UD servers. Stats will also be offline during this time.

We will attempt to complete the maintenance ASAP. Once the system is brought back online a backlog of connections may happen. Until the backlog is cleared you may still have issues sending and receiving work for the UD servers.

The upgrades and system maintenance are all on the back end. Nothing will change for you or your agents.

Thank You
paul

Yes we are still down. I'm trying to get a time estimation of how much longer. I'll update you when I get some more information.

Thanks
paul

Well I'm sorry to announce that it is going to be a little longer yet still.

Things just havn't gone our way today. Nothing is really wrong, things are just taking longer than we ever expected. Today has been a super slow mode kind of day. Database loads and imports are taking way longer than ever expected. The current process is expected to take another 3 hours at the rate it is going.

It is with that news that I'm going to have to bow out for the night. Along with me our DBA is also going to have to call it quits. We will resume first thing in the morning when we get into the office (1300UTC at the latest.) I'm updating the estimated time of completion to 1600UTC today (Sept. 23rd.)

I'm sorry for any problems this might have caused anyone. When the system comes back up we will have a backlog to move through so things might be slow goings at first but they will catch up. I will start the stats runs as soon as things come back up as well.

Thank You
paul

Things have progressed since last night. We are nearing the end. We do have to still take a backup and run a statistics update on the database. This will take a few hours more. I'm going to have to push the time frame out a few more hours to 2000UTC in order to accomodate the backup.

Thank You
paul

Hopefully they will be back up soon. Meanwhile, I am still crunching some stored WUs. Too bad I don't have a stash big enough to make it a whole week though (unless I do them on the P3, then I have enough for a year or two)

The server is now back online!

Updates are completed. The servers are back online. Stats will remain offline until I can get through the daily import of data.

There is a backlog of agent connections as you might expect. I can not say how long it will take to clear this backlog. If however you allow your agents to connect normally it will help things out. Agents will backoff and try to reconnect. Please limit repeated attempts to get your agent to connect.

Thank You

I just left mine turned off for the day. It seems to be ok now. Guess I missed the rush to get reconnected.

Yeah at the start there's so many people returning results it can take a while before being able to connect.
