Direct Connect

Post by Red Squirrel »

Anyone else here use Direct Connect? I like it better than kazaa. There might not be as much stuff, but the network is very stable, almost impossible for the RIAA to nuke because it's many networks, not just one. The speeds are great too. It actually uses the potential of your connection, unlike winmx or kazaa where getting over a KB/sec is a miracle. I had someone download something from me at 200K/sec! That's about what my upload speed is generally.

Also, if you are behind a router like me, it still works! You just need to type in your router IP and you're all set and you can share!

For those who want to try it, check it out:

That's cool. I used to host an open nap server (napster, winmx etc) but later on decided to dump it. I actually had a lot of people that would use it as I had it listed everywhere. Later on I kept wondering why I got so many hits on port 8888 then I realized it was because I was still listed. :D
