As of right now I feel PvP is overall pretty well balanced. However, I think that pure mages (those that use their fists, IE, wrestling/spellbook) are extremely disadvantaged.
The whole advantage of playing a pure mage on other servers is that using moded spellbooks allows you to get the mods needed to cap your suit out more easily. On Valor however, with x4 pieces of jewelry, sashes, robes, boots, and talismans all make it much easier to cap out a suit without a spellbook.
With it being easy to have a fully capped suit without a spellbook, mages that use weapons are able to do far more damage. Armor ignore for 35 dmg, or bleed attack. Or even the fact that weapons can have hit spells on them that are pretty much "free instant casts" compared to a pure mage.
Also consider the fact that the majority of mages on Valor use mage wep -0 artifacts/wands to save 120 skill points. This allows them to have more complex templates than a pure mage that MUST put in 100-120 points into wrestling, otherwise they get hit every time and can't use special moves.
Perhaps the skill wrestling could give a buff to mages somehow. Or, when using magery, if you have no "weapon" equipped (spellbooks dont count), a bonus is given. Or, if you have 100-120 magery, but no other skills that "cast spells" and no weapon equipped, a buff is given.
The only current advantage on valor for pure mages is that they can use slayer spellbooks + talismans to do more damage in pvm. But in PvP there isn't any real reason to have wrestling over a weapon skill and use a godly runic weapon.
I am unsure of how to buff pure mages, but I think it is something worth looking into. What do you all think?

"Pure Mage" buff
I voted yes, as this has been attempted on OSI with fair results. It focuses on the basis of the "pure" mage having more magical power in PVP compared to mages which follow combination templates such as bushido mage or necro mage.d. wrote:As of right now I feel PvP is overall pretty well balanced. Here's some basic details about that publish (Focus Skill Spec PVP):
http://www.uoguide.com/Publish_71
I, for one, agree with the idea as long as a pure mage can be clearly identified and would be given a special bonus that cannot be replicated by a non-pure mage (For example, a necro mage would not be able to get this same bonus for obvious reasons as it's strictly applied to a class that specializes in only the basic skill).
Although a warrior version does not exist on OSI as of this point in time, it's also worth considering the idea of a pure warrior as well, based on a change made similarly to the pure mage (Higher damage, hci cap or w/e).

"Pure Mage" buff
That is interesting. I like that a lot. Aside from that though, I think people using wrestling with an open hand or spellbook should also have some type of a bonus on Valor. It is just so much worse than using a mage with a weapon.
I was initially thinking aside from SDI that wrestlers could have a higher cap before diminishing returns kick in for mana regen, but even that is hardly a buff because with a nice suit and 120 it is really hard to run out of mana.
