Question

Hey,

I was wondering if the shard is looking for scripters? Not like for 24/7 more like a hobby type of hours. I'm really looking into getting back into uo shards. I haven't hosted any shard myself, due to connection. Nor I have played UO for a very long time, but I have scripted quite a time ago. Nothing that i've released though.
I do know C#, mostly work with ASP.NET, trying to get a career into that field. But I would want somewhere to work on my free time, and sort of practice/learn things. You may wonder why am I asking to become scripter here instead of doing it on my own local pc.
Well I should start with that, it's easier to do projects rather than make them up yourself then test them etc. Unless it's an idea you get but then, it's quite easy to lose the spark working on it since you know it will just lay there in scripts folder...
i dunno, I hope I explained more or less. It's quite hard to explain.

But anyways, was just wondering. Oh and I wouldn't want to touch major(unless necessary) scripts, i would love to work on TC mostly.
Just to add that I don't want to try to steal scripts or anything... as I said, i'm looking for sort of something other to do when i want to "relax" from my own stuff.

Oh and I chose this shard because I haven't seen anyone actually making a server and planning things. It's just sort of inspiring... yet again hard to explain.

Thank you for your time.

Thanks for your offer but at this point we don't have a need for scripters. We have tons to do, but everything is already being taken care of, so it would be hard to hand to someone else. Most of the work so far has been back end so it's not touching much on game play, but once that's taken care of, the game play aspects should go quick.

As Red has mentioned, there's not really a need for scripters at the moment. The shard is in the middle of a huge transition that is currently only being done by one coder (Red himself), as the changes would be very difficult to code simultaneously with numerous coders.

Although we appreciate the interest in coding for the shard, AOV has strict and specific rules in terms of coding practices and professionalism. If we were looking for new coders, they would need to provide examples of work or coding knowledge that would reflect the needs of the shard.

We do have a lot of large scale projects for experienced coders that would be great additions to the shard, but at this current point in time, the work is limited to only a few coders until we get the most important foundation building blocks rebuilt.

If you are interested in learning to code runuo and are looking to increase your knowledge in the area, I would suggest downloading runuo and their scripts and playing around with the code. After some time, you will become familiar with all the custom classes and scripts. In the future, if we put out an application for a new scripter, this will give you a greater advantage against other applicants.
