The donation system is in. Since this system is new there may be a possibility of bugs so when you do a submission just keep track of the items you purchased, in case it somehow gets lost. The donation itself is done through Paypal's system and is secure.

The donations will help pay off the server hosting cost (about $150 per month), and at some point, help pay for upgrades as they are needed.
