is toilet paper a luxury?

Post by scherzo »

untill we all master the 3 sea shells (demolition man) - we are left with our fav. 'poo paper'

is it a luxury? or necessity?

this question is directed at the states - but could also be constructed as an argument in Canada, and the E.U. --- as the rule of 'natural justice' applies in most Western countries.

before your one word answers, please give a brief explaination of 'why' or 'how' you made your decision.

is toilet paper a luxury?

Id say it is a luxery that as humans were so used to, that it has become a need. But really it is a luxery. We could use those france style toilets that jet water to clean your bottom, and I assume one would use a towel to dry, and wash the towel regularly, but in the end, no waste is made.

Would be very anoying to wipe this way, but think of all the pollution we'd save. Over half of sewage is probably toilet paper, kleenex, and other such paper products. This is not so bad for towns that filter water before throwing it back in a natural water body, but this is very bad for towns like Toronto who just dump it in lake Ontario without even filtering it. (It's sickning that the goverment even allows this raw sewage dumping)

Be Well, scherzo!

I heard once that there are moist, nylon or such other synthetic material wipes under production which you put in an included automatic washer, which then cleans them, and in about one minute they are clean and moist again. and since there's always some that are ready for use, you aren't stuck waiting for a long time to let er' rip. (If you know what i mean) :D

Damn right it's a luxury, better than wiping with your hands.
