Cock Fightng.

I was watching animal planet, I heard the term 'Cock Fighting' so I rewound it (thanks Bright House) to watch what had happened. I found myself thinking, is cock fighting that bad, when war is totally legal and people get killed by the thousands, and murders happen, and suicides, why do we think about cock fighting? We should be more worried about people, don't you think?

problem with cock fights is they never end. They hardly do enough damage even at 100 wrestling and they regen faster then the oponent can do damage, since each hit is like 1 hp and they hit so slow.

Does the fact that war exists mean that if I go murder my neighbor for the fun of it, that it's ok, or less immoral?

War is politics by other means. War is sometimes necessary when more desirable methods of resolving differences fail. I don't see any meaningful comparison with cock fighting. And neither does the fact that murder, suicide, pain, and suffering happen really have much to do with cock fighting.

Cock fighting is putting two animals into a "ring" where their killing each other is entertainment (and an excuse to bet) to the crowd.

You have to understand that maintaining civilization requires active participation by governing bodies and its civilized populace. That this horror, or that horror occurs doesn't mean that lesser things shouldn't be considered or that efforts shouldn't be made to stop them.

Hmmm...
But I want to point out that it's NOT ok to cock fight, but we should pay more attention to PEOPLE dying all over the place.

Ah, a fellow Clausewitz reader perhaps? It's interesting what he writes about war in his day and age. He even refers to university students who protest wars. Things change less over time than people think.

Why, yes, I am. I haven't read the entire thing, but where does he mention the students? It sounds vaguely familiar.

Hmmm, I can't seem to find it. I may have linked the notion of student protests with Clausewitz because I was reading "On War" in 2003 as the buildup in the Gulf turned into the war with the Iraq and read Book 1, Chapter 1, section 3, much of which I linked to the content of the antiwar demonstrations and my own philosophy of war. However, I feel almost certain that I read something in "On War" about the domestic population protesting war. I'll have to dig deeper.
