OpenOffice 2.0 Released

Post by Chris Vogel »

OpenOffice.org have announced the 2.0 release of their office suite. You may read highlights of the release or a more detailed feature list.

I love OpenOffice.org, and I can’t wait to download this release. (It’s about 75 MB. :o ) I’ve heard that Base is a bit unstable, but I don’t plan to use it anyway. I hope developers were able to shorten the loading time, but I have a feeling that’s not the case.

I keep forgetting, I need to try this out. Does anyone know if it would conflict with ms office in any way? I can't see why it would but just checking, since I'll keep MS Office but perhaps I'll switch to Open Office if I see that I like it.

I’ve never heard of OpenOffice.org causing trouble with Microsoft Office. The worst I see happening is that OpenOffice.org may steal Microsoft Office’s file associations. I’ve forgotten how it treats them.

No, I just saw that the installer doesn’t do that by default.

I installed OpenOffice.org 2.0 this morning. I haven’t really had a chance to play around with it, but I think I will be very pleased.

Base reminds me too much of Access. Oh the memories! :argh:

 We're doing Access in college now. Not something I'd use for a production database.
