Well today, they just got brand new dell Pentium 4 computers with flat screens. I did not count but there's about 50 of them that were set up today by a technician, that for some reason never is around durring the school year. We had moved everything out to strip and wax the floors then put the tables back in today and I noticed them putting all these brand new machines. The computers that were there were "broken so they needed new ones". All the old ones needed were a clean install of windows. They were P3s. Very old, but to me that's really all that is needed for internet research and word processing. It's the last thing a school board should put tons of money on. I'm estimating $115,000 assuming there is 50 computers.
Another thing, when they first built the school (3-4 years ago) they screwed up big time in the track (horrible draining system for water and melting snow) so it got all washed away so they got it fixed, well now it's still screwed up so they will get it fixed again. That's $40,000!!!
So just these two things that I'm aware of cost 155,000!!! That's enough money to hire 2 computer techs to "fix" the "broken" computers and make them just as fast as the P4s will be by the end of the last week of school, and enough to hire an extra teacher to teach a course that "they can't offer because of lack of funds". School boards are weird.
This janitorial job is fun since I get to know more about internal stuff like this.
