i`ve got a problem

Im at a lost on this.simply put i need a step by step how to...
its edgy and i cant figure this out , i gave a copy to one guy hes on DSL
and for some reason cant make the connection ,i stopped over and tried no go
ive got it running on mine hands down simple to do a wireless set up then DSL
ive tried putting in the ip address still no go ..im i missing drivers maybe
im not sure just what needs to be done
i even took his tower to my house,yup in less then 5 minutes had it on my wireless network ,that included opening the tower and putting in the card .now what is going on that i cant hook it up on DSL .
ya i blew this one big time ,damm if i know why it cant hook up
oh ya it wont hook up off the live either ,strange,very strange .
maybe change distros for him and try a different one
i have a cabinet full of linux ,
i thought about trying 7:04 Ubuntu that is or maybe
Slackware 12,not sure any ideas on just what to do or try .
Opps ya its a duel boot system simply to set up ,im just not sure what happen on his system windows hooks up on DSL so its a good connection :unsure:

OK ,
Heres the short of this , distro is Ubuntu edgy .to make this real plain
can not make the internet connection using DSL .
is this better now ? :rolleyes:
nevermind i got it ,ripped the distro out and put in a different one ..

Your network card was probably not supported. Thats the thing with linux, its 50/50 that a peice of hardware is supported. If its not, well tough luck. I bought a 1gbit nic for my server but FC5 does not support it, so I'm out of luck, gota stick with the 100mbit one till I decide to try another distro, but I aint doing a reinstall just for a nic, thats a heavy duty server to setup, not a 1 day thing, but a 1 week+ thing to deploy.
