A pastor was called suddenly away and was unable to preach at the Easter
Sunday morning service at his own church.

He had no choice but to entrust the responsibility to a new assistant pastor
who had just started the week before.

When the pastor returned, he asked his wife what she thought of the young
man's sermon.

"The poorest I ever heard," he wife responded. "There was no meat to the
message and if you want to get brutally honest, it didn't even make sense."

Later that day he met with the new assistant pastor and asked him how things
had gone.

"Fine, sir, absolutely wonderful," the assistant pastor said. "I was
terribly busy and I didn't have time to prepare anything so I went into the
church's computer files and used one of your old messages. After the
service, people came up to me and said it was as if you hadn't even been out
of town."
