This is a great product. I've worked with workstation a lot, and recently setted up a ESX server at work, both great products, but not free. VMware server is same concept as ESX but it installs in an existing OS (windows or linux) while ESX is basically its own OS, based on red hat and more optimized for enterprise level. What this does is allows you to run multiple Virtual Machines on 1 physical machine, so you can have a windows server, a windows xp workstation, a linux server, or any other OS runining on the same box. with our ESX server at work we basically took old servers that take up too much room and put them on the ESX server, and they act as seperate machines running in a virtualized environment. It's really sweet.

I recently installed VMware server on my linux server (would have waited if I would of known the beta ended today :P) and so far it's great. I have my win2k3 server running right on top of linux, to run windows only stuff.
