I don't get why its taking so long for 64-bit to be adopted fully. Its been out for what, 5 years now? It's like IPv6, whats taking so long? By the time 64-bit is mainstream and that 32 bit is pretty much gone, 128-bit cpus will come out LOL.

256-bit CPU with 32 cores.

I could see that happening.

They got dual core, now quad core, soon it will be 8,16,32 and so on. :P

I heard there are some companies with quad core and special elect groups who use 16 core processors already. O.o

Bet the 256 bit, 32 core processors will have fiber optic strands, instead of silver pins. xD I mean, c'mon. They are already so damn tiny, what else they gonna do?

lol imagine that, entire motherboard would be fiber instead of printed circuit. That would be insane.

I don't know about 16 core processors at the moment, but Apple puts 2 quad-core processors in there desktops giving them a total of 8 cores.

We just got a new IBM Bladeserver at work. It has 14 blades in it. Each blade has two 3.0Ghz quad-core processors with 16GB RAM. When all its processing power is tied together, it's like a 112 3.0Ghz processor machine with 224GB RAM 8) We could have bought blades with 4 quad-core processors too... the power plug for that chassis looks like it can power a small building: Dual 220 volts @ 60Amps!
