My work laptop has not been rebooted in like a month. Windows too. :o

At help desk we have at least 10 programs open that we constantly use and most of them require a password to get in, so its a pita having to reboot.

I do enjoy telling other people to reboot though. :D It fixes most problems, its funny.

I think my parents’ XP box would run for a while, but something always asks for a restart.

Only thing that asks my computer to reboot is AVG.

Love the avatar Chris.

My win98se server, I found it, crashes every Sunday. I started it up on a Sunday, and from then on it crashed every Sunday. That is how stable windows 98 is.

Random Thought: We should start up a hacking group, to deface sites that have bad influences (www.kkk.bz), lol it would be fun

lol win98 server? why? Put linux on that or something. :P

Bah, I did the same thing before lol. A hacking group would be fun if it was legal.

tbh it should be legal if its against bad influence sites. Like it makes no sense, china can hack US servers all they want and get away with it, but we can't hack them back.

It would also be illegal.

(I know I’ve probably said this before, but the KKK was founded in Pulaski, Tennessee, just 30 kilometers away from my hometown. Of course, the modern KKK groups aren’t quite the same thing, but I believe white supremacists still hold events down there occasionally.)

It gets better, they're on a host that oversells their resources: http://www.midphase.com/

We can probably suspend their site by overrunning their bandwidth and giving them tons of traffic. Those kind of hosts don't actually let you use what they say you get, its impossible from a technical point of view. I also want to find their ToS see if they have anything against discriminative sites.

PNG transparency FTW.

For those of you using IE, get a real browser and you'll see what I mean. :P

IE 7 supports variable PNG transparency. I beg anyone using IE 6 (or lower!) to upgrade.

Oh right I forgot they finally decided to support that.

For some reason I can totally picture some kind of PNG security flaw in the future where it lets websites execute remote code through the user's browser.

MS always manages to stick those bugs in the weirdest places.

I just got finished watching Law & Order: Criminal Intent. When they found a laptop, they said the swap partition had been written over seven times. (I actually prefer the Special Victims Unit episodes, and not just because of Christopher Meloni, but I don’t recall them coming so close to a *nix reference.)

After reading your post I loaded this page in the 'internet browser' IE6 on my win2k crashbox and do see what you mean. I had no idea it looked like that as the IE7 on my XP system is less than a backup of a backup browser and the closest I come to IE now. Disturbing lack of features gives me no motivation to use it.

on the subject of uptimes, my winXP and win2k workstations are daily at best. They get shut down at night now usually and my 6+ year old xp box is getting a bit cranky now when on too long.

well I learned that the kkk.bz was linked to kkk.com, and kkk.bz is using cPanel 11 which contains xss exploits, and is using PureFTPd

www.kkk.bz:2082
use telnet for the file transfer protocol.

People will get uncomfortable posting here if they see this sort of discussion. Besides, like it or not, even white supremacists have a right to exist and voice their opinions.

What I find sickning about the KKK is that they display themselves as Christians, and heck, some of them may even BE Christians, but being racist is not the lord's will and is sinful. They give a really bad name to Christians.

Personally if I was the goverment I'd ban them. I'd be curious to see what Obama would do if he does make it as president. He'll have the power to do something about them.

Then there's the whole freedom of speech crap, so they'll say its ok to be discrimative, because its freedom of speech.

I never understood that. I can start threatning someone and calling them names and prank calling them etc... but if I have a good lawyer, I can get away with it by saying I'm just expressing myself and have freedom of speech.
