PS3/Netflix

Post by Triple6_wild »

Looks like Playstation has joined up with netflix which is kind of an interesting move B)

I'm not entirely sure how it works because Ive never used netflix at all but this is what I see so far.

Considering the cost of digital cable/satellite and local dvd rentals this could actually be a nice cheap setup for those who watch alot of movies/TV and already own a ps3. Could possibly save enough money to pay for the console itself overtime.

We all are paying for internet anyways so additional cost to stream is 0.. Streaming your TV shows to your TV would be nice instead of waiting for it to come on at whatever time. You could possibly cut your cable bill down to nothing
I do this using torrents for free anyways :biglaugh: but still it would be nice to watch em on my tv without any hassle like burning, transfering to the ps3, or hooking up my pc to the tv.

If your renting more then 2-3 dvd's a month locally well the price of netflix seems to be fairly cheap so you could save money again by streaming them. With the added bonus of being able to get the rental dvd in the mail if what you want to watch is not being streamed ^^ Again I torrent for free

Looks like this can be done with a pc also but most people don't want to wire a pc to there tv for this as it is kinda problematic, Buying a capable video card/long cables to run from pc to tv, Not to mention keeping the pc near the tv or having to run these cables somewhere. Cost of a card/cables well might as well up the ante and get a gaming console to boot. And really it could pay for the console if you quit paying for digital cable so free ps3 anyone? Also selling capable blue ray players which like ps3 would work also.

Is it just me or am I missing the catch here? Cutting a 100$ digital cable bill down to about 10$ seems to good to be true? lol hell even dropping to full basic cable would save some.

No live sports? Big deal, I don't watch em

Someone please tell me where the catch is? A setup like that if it holds true could be good enough to pull me off torrent's as far as movies/tv go, Ive gotten so used to the convenience of being able to watch whatever I want on torrents that even 100% full digital cable is crap.

Just thought I would share and get input :dosgonebad:

Actually I was just checking out netflix and it does look quite interesting. I don't have cable TV, or a TV yet, so I'm considering it. Right now I just download movies but can't always find what I want and even when I do, I have to wait. Sometimes it can be an hour, other times, weeks. Depends on the end user's connection and what not.

Ya it's easy to get away without cable now because of computers ^^

Even then theres nothing interesting on cable anymore unless you enjoy 20 types of CSI 24/7 :biglaugh:

What does surprise me is you don't have a console of any type? Just about everyone I know has a console, Even my mom has a wii and she does play a lot, she also has both a DS and DS-i lol Hell my older sister got 2 360's so she can play online at the same time as her boyfriend, ya in the same house about 20 feet from each other on 2 TV's

May I ask why you don't game much? Even on pc you don't seem to play many games

No time LOL. I have too many other things I work on. I need to wrap up some of my projects to call them done, and maybe get more into gaming at some point.

If I was to get a console I probably would get a Wii though, I've played it and it can be fun especially if I get people over and what not. First I need a TV. :o I'm about 10k in the hole right now so need to get in the green first. :P

Ya I guess a TV would be a good place to start :biglaugh:

Also I see you doing stuff like this instead of playing the games lol LINK This guy is a genius
