77' Chevy Nova

So I'm looking at getting a 77' Chevy Nova, the one I've found is a retired drag car (converted back to "street legal" of course

) Its white with black racing stripes. I'll try to get some pics of it later, does anyone know how well these things stay together and run?

How old are you? If you're under 25 the insurance company will rape you on something like that.

my friend had one of those back then.
he liked it so much but he got out of it one day and got his paycheck
off the seat in it. and nothing else. why? cause the dang thing was burning from the fuse box.

Any car can have electrical problems and most of any auto problems aside from normal wear are neglect so

77 nova holding together? Keep in mind it is a classic car so holding together and running would be yours and your wallets job and that comes with no warranty
Also add to that, It was a drag car so it's been pushed hard adding wear to the car. Think they kept it running every weekend on magic and pixie dust?

Tons of hours repairing issues before the track and at the track I'm sure. It was retired for a reason and best guess is cost and/or reliability. Without knowing what has been done to it or how well it's been restored can change the answer your asking for to one extreme or the other, It could run/look great for the next 5 years without even changing the oil, It may not get you home on day 1 and may also be rusting bad as is.

As far as insurance goes the rape may be in reverse

he might be able get some insane rates as it is a true classic car and people who own stuff like that don't use them as daily drivers and take much better care of them though the hotrod side may be what kills him. Even if it's a beater though it will be a nice ride to own ether way.

I prefer imports though

as a matter of fact my friend wishes i'd just drop the whole memory

after that long i guess it is time to give him a break.

i never toasted a car but i did catch the wire on fire in my fuse box
on that buick i posted the photo of in here, well the photo was one like mine.
not mine.

but i had too narrow of wire on the toggle switch for the fog lights.

going down the road one day i needed to use them so i turned them on.

took less then 5 seconds for me to get a burn mark on the palm of my hand
in the shape of a burning wire.

i smelt that smoke and just as i smelt it the thing burst in to flame.
i grabed that thing and yanked that wire out of the box.

then kept blowing on the palm of my hand trying to cool it off.

don't use speaker wire for fog light toggle switches it burns.

Only if I try to get collectors plates on it, other then that the insurance company does not really care.

Also yes I realise because of the fact that its a retired drag car it will have some intense wear and tear. Of course there are other project cars out there that I could invest in and I'm keeping my options open.

If anything I would prefer a 68 Nova over the 77, or an Arcadian but of course I still have lots of time to put into a car so I have a right to be picky.

Find the car you want to throw money at then it won't be a problem as picking up some tools would be just as enjoyable as driving it. It's the one thing I hate about my truck lol I wanted to be picky also and pick up a beater that I liked and would be willing to throw money at for parts etc, Had to have a ride for work so lost that option and had to choose what was available, Now it's just a piss off if I "need" parts because there is nill as far as aftermarket for my truck even if i wanted to upgrade it. crappy weird ass ford engine. 4 banger, single cam, with 8 freakin spark plugs!! WTF!! Insane as far as gas milage goes though, Gotta give the stupid ford that lol Ran it from 1am to 7am on much less then a quarter of a tank in the city and thats about 10$ here, 40-45$ fills it.

Don't get me wrong lol Spent the weekend in the driveway doing the coolant system because it rotted and blew all over Algonquin, I enjoyed working on it just hate the fact that I "had" to put money in it and it was just a repair, Could of been saving that cash for a 240 or RX. If it had been a car I wanted then repair would have turned into upgrade like add electric fans and a bigger rad. Truck is not worth upgrading as 300$ will net me like 5hp where as a 240 would have much bigger gains on 300$ and not handle like crap lol

Still attempting to save for a car but just much slower process with the truck around

Anyways search for the car you want most if you have time to or snag the 77 as it's still a muscle car at least. Just don't get stuck "needing a set of wheels" or you may end up in a civic lol

So more cars that I've always been in love with have shown up on the market.

1971 Mustang Coupe "needs resto"
1978 Mustang T-top hatchback, V8, 302 auto.

Both for $1200 not sure if they are in better condition then the Chevy Nova but it might be worth a look.
