   :banghead:

okay after all that thinking by smiley are you back to win98 yet? :awesome:

the trouble is that when i do an auto restart of the win98 computer.
it does the shut down.

but it sometimes does not restart, it gets hung on the dos screen at
the update sucessful message
it never does the next one that reboots the computer.

it just hangs there.

i have to press the reset button all the time it hangs. and do the reboot manualy

this is no good for use with timed programs.

i have checked the hard drive and all is good no bad sectors or anything and it is defraged.
so is the hard drive for the swap file.

?
could it be a swap file size error?

i am using min 1250mb's and max 1257mb's for the swap file size i thought that was the safe limit?
since it was messing up with the 2000 mb size of swap file.

Why are you still using windows 98? It's always had shutdown issues from the start. Half the time shutdowns would not work on 98. It was almost as worse as windows me.

i am using win98 cause i still have it working and i am only getting this one error right now i seem to have the other stuff fixed right now.

i think it is the swap file though since it is on a second hard drive maybe windows don't like the larger swap file when it is on a second hard drive,
so i will make it smaller and see if that fixes this.

the only thing i use win98 for is the junkbox it has very little else on the computer in way of software it is all multimedia software and the open office program. one old photo program that only works on win98. and the other windows software, it is not online anymore. this xp is the one that is online. or the win Me can get online but dont use the winMe online much and it is just a back up storage for the songs on the win98 and it has some games that only work on winMe.

that is why i am asking about this win98 restart error it only started doing this recently it was going fine for a year with out this restart hang.
