Virtual PC?

Post by richardj »

I installed Microsoft Virtual PC 2007

Now I'm trying to install Linux XP on to it.

The Linux installer got to the point of saying it was now going to partition the hard drive & wipe out all the data.

I chickened out--LOL :P

What will it wipe out--the info on the 'virtual' hard drive/--or my whole hard drive??

BE AFRAID--BE VERY AFRAID :dosgonebad:

I am not sure. I've never used Linux XP but if you install Ubuntu I could help. That's what I have on dual boot. 4 partitions 2 for linux and 2 for windows.

it will wipe off the virtual hard drive, unless you set the hdd as being your physical one, though I'm not sure if virtual PC has that option, never used it. But I know it's similar to vmware.

Well

It creates a "virtual drive" so, I'm thinking that it will just wipe that--I hope

Well I do have Acronis, so I'll just back everything up & make my rescue floppys & try it

I have Ubuntu too, that's why I put in the Virtual HD so I could try them without really installing them.

The Linux xp is suppose to be Redhat with an XP GUI.

I'll let you know what I screw up. :biglaugh:

You may try VMware... I use it and I think it's better than VPC

And VMware server is free, which makes it even cooler as you can experience virtualization without paying anything.
