ok i download alot of anime .. umm ya alot of anime lol
i use kazaa as first choice for getting my anime as it is the fastest way for anime ^^ with direct http downloads as a 2nd choice and limwire is normally a last resort if that one episode cannot be found cuz limewire is painfully slow and digs up garbage when searching for anime >< tho limewire is first choice for getting tunes lol
but now i have a problem >< 2 episodes are out of reach so i have to turn to the only way i see to get them >< stupid torrent files
but ya its downloading at like 0-2 kb/s and gonna take forever that way
anyways theres 5 seeds on the file and bittornado keeps giving error messege that tracker could not be reached or some crap with **ip/port** #'s
is there anyway to get this dumb torrent thing to work for me at the very least 10+kb's ?
like whats wrong with this thing that it must go so slowly and whats the cure?
could it be the router?
btw i am sharing the whole 1 mb ive downloaded so far lol
anyways i need to get these 2 files before thay become licensed in the us or i wont be able to find em at all after
ive tryed torrent before and everyone keeps telling me it should be really fast but its never fast for me lol

You're in sympatico right? I get the same problem. Any type of p2p apps including bittorrent just blows. The reason is that we are capped at 200(or some number near there) simultanious connections, does not matter how fast they are going. And with p2p it generates tons of connections to keep a download going. The multi source download stuff is actually very uneficient because of this. direct http/ftp downloads are the best way to get stuff... problem is most people dont share that way, or at least its much harder to search it.

You might want to try a different bit torrent client. I don't think BitTornado even supports DHT (allows you do download from peers even if the tracker is down). May I suggest uTorrent, it's got dht, rss, and all that good stuff and it's only 170kb. The protocol encryption might help your ISP problem too, if they are trying to do protocol shaping instead of limiting the number of connections.

I’ve heard good things about μTorrent, but I decided to use Azureus instead. I like it. Downloading OpenOffice.org and Ubuntu was easy and fast, although those are very popular. I haven’t tried downloading something more obscure.
Try to keep a good share ratio.

Limit your upload to 10kb/sec to see what happens
I had to fool with mine because after a certain point the less you leave out the less you get in.
I sometimes get almost 90/kb/sec (if I remember right)
But there again, it depends how many people are on with the file you want.

I actually switched from Azureus to uTorrent recently. And I do kinda miss Azureus sometimes. The good this about Azureus is that it has features out the bunghole. Everything you ever wanted to know about the torrent you are currently downloading is just a few clicks away, and the plugin system leaves plenty of options open. The bad thing about Azureus is that it's pretty big memory wise. Mind you it doesn't look all that big, but the bulk of the memory footprint is in the java process. And seeing as my torrent client runs 24/7, I wanted something a little lighter.Tak wrote: I’ve heard good things about μTorrent, but I decided to use Azureus instead. I like it. Tell me something Triple6, were you using the default ports on the clients you tried before? To have _never_ gotten a decent download speed up until now sounds like a more fundamental problem with your firewall or ISP. Most modern clients advocate staying away from the default ports because ISPs like to block them.Triple6_wild wrote:those 2 downloads i got were like 300 mb's total so i shared over 700mb'sTak wrote: Try to keep a good share ratio.

It's the ISP, he's on the same one as I'm on, actually, if it's cable that would be it too, since they limit the monthly transfer.
I'm lucky to hit as high as 1KB/sec on torrent downloads. I usually average about 200bytes/sec.

well when squirrel said it may be the isp i did change the ports on bit tornado but still had no luck
i think i was using ports 10000 to 10010 but it was slow before the change and after the change so im at a loss of why most torrent programs dont work here ... other then isp i have no clue
i am on cable but we have unlimited monthly transfer but just like squirrel says its hard to get over 1kb/s no matter what torrent program ya got ... infact its odd to see utorrent downloading at nice speeds
speaking of squirrel lol you should give this a try also try n find out why this torrent program works here but not the others

k well now i got a few lil questions
nothing bad really lol
but it seems to cap out at around 55-60 kb/s no matter how meny downloads are going so really i have a choice of running all downloads at once with a wait time of 4~ hours or run one download at a time with a wait of 1~ hour each with 4 files lol but eather wait its a total of 4 hours
anyways is there a simple cure for this to pick up some speed when running mutliple downloads othere then dropping upload speed cuz i would like to keep a 2.0 share rating min
oh and also ... whats the diff between force start and just start?

OK--Like I really don't understand torrentes to begin with------why you have to download in bits & pieces instead of one download-----
BUT-Under preference-torents I have max connections set at 1000 (LOL)
Max num of torents upload or download 4
Max number down 3
So this way I'm alowing only 1 upload.
Under network
I also limit my upload speed to 45kb, but like I say you have to play with this as a download is in progress as if you lower it too far your download speed will start to decrease.
Global max download rate should be 0 (unlimited)
under seeding
limit upload when seeding prereq is reached 5kb
Make sure seeding has higher priority is unhecked
And I don't know about force start I usually check mine & they start faster-maybe read the help?
ALso-when you right click on a torrent or in the box when you start it you can tell it how much bandwidth to use low-medium-high.
Unless I'm surfing at the same time I set them on high

the bits and peices i can understand becuz you can download one chunk from one user and at the same time be getting another chunk from another user for that same file and so on
so really it can be an advantage over downloading one
so far i am running both up and down as unlimited and only set them on high if that download is having a hard time keeping up or if i want it now
im using 200 connections max right now at default
the search function in utorrent good for searching torrent files or is it better to search for my own torrents on sites i know?

Actually I find nothing beats a direct download, the bits and peices adds so much network overhead, its not worth it. Problem is people close their programs etc... so if its a direct download you're screwd if the host goes down.

well direct can be a problem for video files tho
like put gb's of video on iceteks for direct http download and see how much it would cost ya to offer it in bandwith alone><
ive downloaded 6 gb's this month off a web site and its only the 10th and thats just me
... one person for 2 shows total of 26 episodes ... and theres still another 3 shows on the site i want and one show alone is 25 episodes
i think shareing does help in this case cuz everyone has to pay there own internet anyways so why not share to help lower the site owners cost? like theres a link for direct and a link for torrent so why not go torrent?

The uTorrent search is just sending your query to some of the major torrent sites like mininova and isohunt. If I remember correctly, if you poke around in the settings, I think you can add other sites to the list too, though I'd try to read up on it somewhere before trying to add anything.Triple6_wild wrote: the search function in utorrent good for searching torrent files or is it better to search for my own torrents on sites i know?

Ah sorry for the "look it up yourself" but I was at work, and they block that kinda stuff. If you're wondering, adding a search engine in uTorrent requires a little bit of work on your part and doesn't work on all sites. It's on the preferences menu under AdvancedUser Interface. In the box at the bottom, just add a new line with the engine name the pipe "|" symbol and the search url.
Getting the url is the tricky bit, but usually you can just do a search on the website you want to add and copy the result url, cutting off everything where your keywords start showing, usually after something like "query=" or "keyword=". Basically all uTorrent is doing is sticking your keyword on to the end of the url and opening it.
for example I could say do a search on AnimeSuki for "Amaenaideyo", which sends me to a page with the following url:

Code: Select all
http://www.animesuki.com/search.php?query=Amaenaideyo[code]
Cut out my keywords and everything past them, and you got the search url: [code]http://www.animesuki.com/search.php?query=[code]
So what I'd add to uTorrent would be
[code]AnimeSuki|http://www.animesuki.com/search.php?query=[code]
But sometimes It's kinda hard to find the url, and sometimes you have to play around a bit to make the url work, and sometimes there just isn't one to find.
For example, BakaUpdates doesn't show you the full url when you do a search, but if you have more than one page of results, and look at the second page, you'll see it:
[code]http://www.baka-updates.com/search.php?keyword=Amaenaideyo&type=title&page=2[code]
and then I had to mess around with a few of the terms to make it work, ending up with:
[code]http://www.baka-updates.com/search.php?type=title&keyword=[code]
