Asus A8V motherboard issues?

Post by Red Squirrel »

Just curious if any of you have this motherboard, and if you have issues or not. Issues such as:

- Random BSODs
- Random reboots (usually with a BSOD, but more like a flash of black then blue)
- Games hardly work, if you do get one to load, it only lasts for a couple of minutes

That's my 3 major problems with this PC, and I'm thinking it may be my motherboard. I can't even play halo on this PC, yet the specs including the video card are much higher then my old PC which ran Halo fine.

I did some research and it seems lot of people who have this mobo have issues, and even reported faulty ram slots.

Aren't asus parts supposed to be known for their quality? They might have made a bad batch of mobo's or something. It happens. I remember one time we got a bad shipment of hp 1350's and about 18 had to be sent back because they were faulty. How long have you had your mobo?

Having worked on a number of A8V-s... it's probably a software issue. I know you'll hate this answer Red, but try running Windows Update and make sure everyting is up to date, as well as visiting the Asus website to see if there's any BIOS updates availible. Disable any overclocking you've done (as that can create system instability as well) and for games, don't forget to look at your hardware. I know Final Fantasy X has issues with the Creative Labs Audigy 2 on that motherboard (like, bigtime issues).

If all else fails, call Asus support.
