I figured I should set static IPs for both computers on my network, to make things easier when I do port forwarding and such. So I also specified my server as DNS,and you would not believe how fast sites resolve now. I had set it through my router but by default the secondary was my ISPs, My server is setup to be a DNS forwarder but does cache as well.

Woah fast DNS resolving
I set up a caching name server on my desktop. I saw a huge performance increace too. Don't know if I'll do anything with my laptop or not. I don't want to have it point to the server on my desktop machine because I take out away from the network reguarly.
