My sound hasen't been working all day, even after a couple of restarts. The Help tool didn't...help very much. It told me to go to the start menu and go to my sound card's program files, which were probably never there in the first place. I'm ususally using headphones hooked up directly to the back of my computer, and I've tried changing them with another pair, and the speakers. When I have the speakers set on full sound, they do have that soft sound in the background it usually has when there's nothing playing. I don't think my operating system being ME is the problem though, but maybe that will help get an answer somehow. In the Device Manager, my sound card is called Creative AudioPCI, but I'm sure I remember it being called Sound Blaster before. And that's all I can think of saying about my problem so far.

Is there a yellow "!" beside it in the device manager? Either way, try reinstalling the drivers see if that helps.
BTW you didn't upgrade to windows 2000 yet?

I realized I forgot to mention that I only got that soft sound when the cable was plugged into the port in the back and no other time.
The device manager looked fine, no "!"s anywhere.
..... I need sound!!
