Good music/audio editing

Is there any *free* music or just an audio editing software out there.

Audacity can do simple things, but it may be too basic for your needs. I’m not really familar with the various audio programs out there since I don’t edit much, so I’m sorry I can’t be much of a help to you.

yeah I used audacity and it's decent. Acoustica is pretty good too, for general mixing. Also orion and soundforge is a must if you want to do very cool editing.

Damn, the file is a WMA is there a way to convert that because when i input it as raw i get nothing but static.

ouch, that's not really a standard format... well it is but not many programs support it because its propiatary to MS. Easiest way is to play it, hit record in a recording program to record it to a wav or mp3 file, then edit. You may need to play with your volume settings to get it working, make sure record device is "wave" (usually) and that the volume for wave is not muted.

So your saying if i play the file in media player and just hit record on the Audacity it will record it, then save as wav and i'm set.

I use Acoustica and E-Jay for my mixing. Not sure about editing though, well, depends on what type of editing you're doing.

ok you want free media edtiors there is a wav editor at snapfiles.com for 32 bit wav's and it is free

i just did not like it but it is there. i am useing my wav studio i got on the soundblaster live card's software,

there are also free mp3 editors and if you want to do converting between formats.

you need to get cdex it is free.

or you can really get the one to do all but wav editing. that is the mediamonkey program it will orgnanize your song database and it even tells you if your trying to convert to a wma format that wont work.

it converts to ogg, mp3, wma, wav. it plays just about every format i say just about because there are always new ones being made.

it also allows you to use winamp to play the playlists made with media monkey.

it also uses's winamp plugins.

but if you want the knobs bells and whistle then your in need of more mega programs you will find them out there.

Very cool. I tried the audacity and used the cdex to convert it to a wav. I'll try some of the other program later.
