FireFox 1.0 Final is out
Hmmm to upgrade or not to upgrade.
I'm using mozilla so I think I'll stick with it, though, I could still use an upgrade since I'm a fraction of a version behind.
The challenge is to make my grandma upgrade. She hates "changes". And I heard there's a security issue in 0.9 so it is best to upgrade.
The main difference between mozilla/firefox and IE is not really the security, it's the fact that mozilla actually updates their software on a regular basis, which minimizes security issues. And there probably are much less issues.

Hmm they should make an activeX extension for it. Why surf the web if sites can't install stuff without your permission? What fun is that?

Firefox 1.0 is okay. I downloaded it today. (I don’t seem like much of a Firefox fan, do I? )
I like the Live Bookmarks feature, but I doubt I will use it. Red, you can make the Iceteks homepage compatible with Live Bookmarks and other things like it (if any) if you add this to the HEAD of your HTML document:

Code: Select all
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml"
title="Iceteks Headlines (or whatever you want to call it)" href="/file.xml">[code]
Firefox 1.1 (~March 2005) will excite me. I believe the trunk and branch will be synchronised by then. There are some great things in the trunk.
Oh, I had my first 1.0 crash a few hours ago. I guess Firefox dislikes live Chrome editing within the DOM Inspector. I’m surprised the DOM Inspector is still in the default Firefox builds anyway.

What exactly is live bookmarks? Sounds interesting, maybe I'll download it to make the home page support it.

It let's you click on a bookmark, but instead of going to a page, it presents a drop down list of the latest news, links, or whatever is coming from that live boookmark.
Example:
www.anandtech.com
It requires an RSS feed, I believe.
