skin suggestions

Our upgrade to 2.0 is very well aproaching, and if the predicted release date of 2.0 does not change (May 27th) I'm hoping to complete the upgrade by mid July - that means: functional cybervillage, new skin, new integrated features, (ex: the top stats) and basically everything we have now and more.

Since I have to redo the skin from scratch, I might as well change it to a different style. I just want to have suggestions of colors / style to go with. I want to keep it fairly simple, but not too simple.

So please post suggestions!

Ah, just throw some vines, flowers and birds on here and we'll be good to go.

I actually think this skin should stay. (Ported to the new version, of course.) It's easy on the eyes, well put together, professional, etc. I don't have any suggestions for a new one though. I have no idea what goes nice with what, hence the reason I have no Web site. Oh, that and laziness.

Mainly the first reason...HONESTLY!

Yeah I was thinking of maybe keeping it, but not sure anymore.

I might just enhance it. Keep the same table layouts and just change the graphics maybe. Better lookng metal etc...

I agree with tak, keep this one it is well done and very well recived around the web, you can change it but dont make it drastic just keep the soft pastel colors where text is, you can darken up the (light blue) background around the page just not too much.

if you really want to make it become more tech like you should go to techtv.com and grab their style and use it for a guide just dont make the background white it is hard to see the words and gives me a headache on them white pages.

but since tech tv is going to be gone on the 28th of this month there are lots of techtv members looking for new boards to go to. and theres lots of good help on the techtv boards, i cant see any reason not to try and get them to come here.

other then coast of bandwithe going through the roof..

you might aslo try and copy the tv channels dark blue and black to gray dots graphics that will be a big reminder of techtv for us that like the channel.

as of now the new channels message board has no rooms on it for any tech help all of it deals with their shows on gaming which there is no tech help on the gaming shows?

and comcast has canceled the call for help show which was giving lots of help to basic users. so you might get some of them here by doing the skin like that..

to put it lightly ? or heavy!! the number of tech help forums is going down big time.

and this is the only one that is left that does not allow flaming of other members on it besides lockergnomes site. so when techtv is gone there will only be 2 good help sites icetec's and lockergnome's.

i seen the others but net help is not good on them too many flames on b,b,, and on q, & a, ones also too much misguided help or just smart a.. help on them.

leoville.com which is leo laportes site has a forum but that is mostly a fanclub one for him. still you can get some help there. but not much.

do i think making the new skin more like techtv's skin or tv graphics will bring in more members faster then anything once they make the connection between the help and techtv.

but that is just my idea.

nah, the current skin's pretty good if you just want to port it or update it a bit. Just remember that less is more and it'll be fine

I might attempt to make it W3C compliant, but it depends on how I feel the day I redo it. It might be too much trouble for nothing, and it's not like it will change apearance.
