Lag issue

Post by Red Squirrel »

Looks like the lag issue is back. It only affects people who are in the united states. This issue makes absolutely no sense, since the server is *IN* the United States. The only option at this point is to just look into a different provider. I'll wait it out a bit to see if the issue resolves itself, if not I'm going to look into a different server provider, though this one is the cheapest I can find, any other will be even more expensive per month.

So here's the deal, if people can start donating montly, I am willing to upgrade the server and switch hosts. I'm looking into the same host as Demise so we should not have lag issues. The server package I'm looking at is only 20$ more per month then this one.

or i mean does anyone on the shard know of any provider we could get for him that would be as cheap or less with a great conn?

i mean i got a job i suppose 5 dollars a month wouldnt hurt or something but i just hate donating to freeshards its like i could just pay for the real server which i have a 9 year account on.. but i love this shard and i think i might do it

and i guess it would be cool to get donator items .. ill think about it.

btw do we have a donating section listing what we have or a gallery to see?

I noticed a very slight lag issue during the event and stuff, but it wasn't consistent or constant. I'll let you know if I see any kind of issues in my area.

If donations can pickup, this is the server I'm looking into:

Dual or Quad Core
1GB Registered ECC RAM
4 x 2MB Cache
SATA II & SA-SCSI HDD
Raid 0, 1, 5, 10 Available
2000GB Public Bandwidth
Unlimited Private Band.

USD$159 / Mo (current is about USD$140/mo)

USD is currently 1.07 right now, so this will be under $200 per month if our dollar keeps up. I make about 100ish US per month from google adsense, so that pays off half.

So basically if I can start getting a steady 50$/mo donations, I will upgrade to this server. This should mean no more lag. The server will be in the same data center as Demise. Our current one is in the same town, but in a different data center, and their network is teh suxor it seems. Too much fluctuations.

Yeah, but once you buy an ethy you don't need another. Think the main issue is, I need more perishable items on there. Maybe fort/translocation powder or some things like that. Translocation is easy to get, but fort is not, so maybe people would buy.

Peerless sets. Not like that will hurt anyone, right? Just save time. Or maybe you could buy bods : D

actually bods could work. I could make it a bod deed, when you click it, you get a random bod. You could choose between small or large, and the amount. So a bod deed of 10 would spawn a bag with 10 random bods. I could maybe make casino tokens that you buy and put on the roulette, for those who want to gamble irl :P

That or ones that you can only get from the donation place. Maybe gives you more properties for less points.

That would somewhat be like putting artifacts into the donation store, giving unfair advantage to the ones able to afford certain items with IRL money. But a deed with like random 5 ones wouldnt be bad.

How about custom insta-bond pets. You could use the same idea as the crystal steed and how it starts from an egg. You could make some decent pets that would be decent pets to use (not entirely better or worse than anything existing) that are unique enough to know they are donation pets.
