mb ram vid which is it.?

Post by rovingcowboy »

ok back to the win Me i thoight was working. it seems it was playing possum on me.

it all works with the games and stuff we been using the last year. but i tried to use another cd game in it that was installed on it but not used in over 2 years. it messed up so i thought it was missing files as they might have be cleaned out for lack of use.

so i reinstalled the program.

nope still messed up. :banghead: :banghead:

the program is my rollercoaster program. when i try to use it to ride or make a new coaster the back ground keeps flipping between 8 color and 32 color.

upper half the sky cube will be tiled with the sky image. the lower half will start to be torn away at the bottom and go behind the ground cube. the objects will look good to start with until the back ground starts to move then they look like cardboard cut outs you fold and sit on the table. and when moved they give the multiple image like flipping cards or pages in a book. the image in the sky cube will be moving right to left like i am turning to the right. but nothing is moving in the other images.

so i thought to check the 3d draw and it checks out fine. i thought to check out dx and it works fine. just this program does that and the other programs i use seem to be jerking and stopping a little when playing them? kind of like heat?
but will heat mess up the video in the other program that bad??

or could it be that old sdram that is good and is able to run on the main board. (as it was made for that or ddram. ) be making the video card get hot by having too much lag time. should i get the faster ram.?

or is that video mess caused by the wmd and if that is it what one and where would it be that i get it fixed?
:pissed off:

Sounds like a video issue for sure. Probably software (ex: drivers) but could maybe be hardware too (the card itself). Try a different card to see what happends. You might need to clean install, this is Win ME we are talking about. :D

Could be he video card, could be the vid card divers, could be directx. Note that even though directx may work fine, there are times when changes in newer directx versions negatively affect older games. Same thing with video drivers. If it's the video card driver, you might be able to find older ones on the card manufacturer's website, but if it's directx, aside from an fdisk
einstall, you can only upgrade, so you're kinda stuck. However if it is directx, you might be able to find a patch or workaround on the game developer's website, so check that out first [if it's still around].

ok found out what it is by way of finding a forum for the game and joining in to ask for help.

funny thing the url to the site for the game only takes you to the online store UNLESS you click the web site link from inside the games help program? then you get to the site, which i found out is now going to be linking straight to the online store now. and they said to go to the new forum. good thing i guess i tried to use the game now. then next week. :awesome:

but here is the reason for the above trouble.

my version is 2 versions back. it should not have this trouble accorcding to those at the forum. as only the last 2 updates they knew of had this trouble and nobody had it with the version i got.

so it seems it is the old version and the new versions can not handle one of the new hardware configs or updates to the video drivers.? and since i upgraded my hardware i go the trouble with the old versions.

i have to go buy the 2 new updates and install them so i can get the work arounds to correct the troubles.

the prices are said to be cheap. 10 to 30 dollars. but thats a lot when your busted now. :(

oh well no new roller coasters from me for some time yet.

I've never heard of buying updates, but then I'm no gamer.

heh, I guess most of the time game companies try to sell updates, they call them expansions. :P
