My Computer's Time Changes....

I see the time on my computer changes after i restart my computer several times already..It always slow down 3 hours...
Does that forshadow anything about my PC?

Could be that your cmos battery is dying, though that's not very common, but it is common for that given situation.

Another thing, do you have any kind of software that would sync the clock, it could be syncing it wrong? I had that problem when I dual booted with linux since I had it set to use an atomic clock, but had the wrong time zone set, so whenever I would reboot, it would be a few hours off.

what make and year modle is your computer?? the comos batteries are now made to last 5 yrs or longer? if you have one that is 5 yrs old that might be it.

but if you have that old of computer did you get all the needed updates for the year 2000 clock time and date errors?

and then the fact that the clocks are very well known for being a pain in the backside about lossing time, either you get lucky and get a good one then it does this when the batterie dies, or you get a bad one and it does this all the time.?

check the batt.. like red said to do. and go get a free program for keeping your clock updated i use one from

Software Design Web Site. at http://www.gregorybraun.com he also made a staylive program to keep the dial up connected. both work good for me.

Most CMOS batteries nowadays are made to last for 3-5 years, just like Hard drives.

So, it's a possibility that the CMOS could be bad.

I had a problem similar to yours once, that ruined my computer, and I had windows 2000 on it. It said on the MS Site that some computers may need a BIOS upgrade to run Windows 2000.

So, there are 3 things I can think of that can cause this:

1. Old BIOS (If so, then find your BIOS maker's site, and look for a BIOS upgrade)

2. Dead CMOS Battery

3. Using wrong time server with Time syncing program.
