IceTeks 1 year anniversary

On December 18th, 2002 I officially decided to change our name from PC411 and to have a new start. The name itself was not chosen till later as we had a vote and I was still waiting for more peopel to vote, but the new board was setup and I "joined", and then once the name was chosen, I changed it.

On Christmas Eve 2002 I officially took down PC411 and it was made official that IceTeks was the new name for this site. So Christmas is our official aniversery for IceTeks! Before Christmas I worked to get the forum set up, modded and ready for the big grand opening. We were still running on my server back then, and it was only till a bit before April 1st 2003 that it was "nuked" and I had to switch to a pay host because my isp made me remove the server because of Martyn's complaint. So the aniversery of iceteks.com is actually a bit after April first. (yeah, april fools!

) We made it far since then and you probably enjoyed seeing the forum and site become better and bigger as much as I did, for those of you who date since the PC411 days. We still have lot of progressing ahead of us and I'm sure the future will bring us good, and hopefully more members! Thank you everyone who has been around and still are, since that time!

Thanks to all our members, both from PC411 and from nowadays. It's great having you guys around, and without you and the members that are joining we wouldn't be where we are today. Happy Holidays.

Yes, thanks to everyone! May Iceteks grow into an even greater community.

I wasn't around in the early days. Any screenshots, anyone? I should have taken screenshots of the old AF, but I didn't. Even better than screenshots, I had saved HTML files of certain pages. I deleted them though!

Nope, no screenshots unfortunatly, but I think I do have some html of the site itself, but not the forum. It's too bad since that's really what started us off. The forum, which was a blusish yabb gold with lot of security holes.

I'll see if I can find the html and post screen shots.

I'll start a seperate thread.

that long only i got confused with all the typing i thought i been posting for 4 years. oh my sore fingers. i am not sure i will beable to keep it up this much for that long.

but what a christmas present you gave us all last year it has been a full year of fun and learning thank you. and i hope to have another full year this year

Yep, looking foward to this year too, and looking foward to Christmas.

I don't have anything big planned for Christmas though (for Iceteks) but we can have a party or something. I should try and get other tech sites involve by sending out a mailing,but I think it would be taken as spam so I might not.

hey, that would be a good prank, I can host it on this site, within 30 minutes we'll go through our allowcated bandwidth. Man, that "prank" would last for the rest of the month.

I need to find a place to host that though. It's fun to search google and find people "troubleshooting" a computer that has been "infected" with this.

Some IT people posted feedback on cnet and wanted me to get hit by a bus. Road kill! :roadrage.gif:

Time flies, it's incredible that this site is now over a year old. But technically the official first birthday is april 1st that is coming because that's when the domain was bought and that everything was up and running by the next day or so. That's when traffic started picking up more. So we'll definatly have some kind of party or something. We already have the cybervillage to play lot of title pranks on people, by then I'll probably have the bot stalking feature, we'll have fun, lot of fun.
