I was trying to start my own cluster, being that I have about 40-50 computers at school that could run UD under my name, but I have no provilages to install UD because of some msvdb.dll file that needs to be modified, any way around this?

We have deep freeze at our school so rebooting gets rid of any installed programs. Otherwise I'd go for it. If there's nothing at your school like that you should ask about it. Would be sweet!

Here there's no point since a reboot will bring it back to the state it was in before.

Ehh that sucks. Im pretty sure they don't have anything like that since I installed opera on a couple machines, I think it's just that the .dll file is write protected, but Im thinking if I can copy it to a location where it can be modified, would that work? That would rock so bas having 40+ machines crunch for me.

Also, is there a way to approach the school about this?

I'm sure you could write a letter to your princapal and tell him/her that it's for a good cause (explain what it does etc...) and say that it won't affect system performance and that it won't waste sys admin's time as you will worry about installing it on all machines.

You'll have to find out how to set it as a service and all that so that even when the computer is not logged in, that it's still crunching. Should not be too hard.

I think this would be a good project for all schools to get involved in. :awesome:
