The PC was working well when I shut it down. But It could not start the next day. The power supply is good (I tested). The CPU fan is running and the power LED is on after I press the start button. But nothing else happens. No any kind of sound except that from the CPU fan. Nothing goes to monitor. I reset the Bios and reseat the CPU. It does not help. Any suggestion what else I can check, and what might be wrong?
Many thanks.
Jack

PC does not start
hmm, did you change anything before it happened? It could be something as simple as an IDE cable backwards, but it could also be something as devistating as a mobo or cpu being fried.

I did not change anything. Because the CPU fan is working properly, I guess the chance that it get fried in not much. Any simple way to test motherboard, or CPU?
Thanks.

You can maybe take out every part but one stick of ram and the CPU and see if it does anything then. You should at least get something such as an error that it can't find a floppy drive etc, so connect it, and work your way up from there to break it down to the problem.

How old is the system? The motherboard may have just died. Since it won't start, I don't know of any test to try.

The first thing to try would be to reseat the video card if you haven't already. They can pry themselves loose overtime.

Another thing to do is to make sure the memory (RAM) is seated properly in thier slots. I've had it happen when I've just nudged it and my system won't start, but taking the memory out and putting it back in was the problem (Pointed out by one of the technicians at a local computer shop)
