UD PC score
If you go in the UD agent where it says device information, what score does it give you?
For me...
overall: 136
processor: 167
memory: 134
storage: 196
network: 88
The network is always low, no one really knows how UD actually calculates that. Not sure if it's the nic/modem, connection speed etc...
If you have more then one PC just vote for your main one and feel free to share the score of all others as well.
edit: interesting, I just got a new result while I made this topic and it dropped to 129. Funny how that changes sometimes.

I have a 102 right now, but I usually get around 123... I don't pay much attention to that.

Wow how much memory do you have Wren? I have 512MB and get 134, I assume you must have 1GB or some really high quality memory. Mine is just generic, it has my supplier's name on it and that's it.

What do you have a 386?!?! J/K
Just saying that since when I put UD on my 486 I got a score of 100 and it said the CPU was 0hz.
It never actually managed to return a result. If I'd still be crunching, I'd still be recovering the same lost data from the black out.

Overall: 80
Processor: 129
Memory: 67
Storage: 6
Network: 38
Main thing is that I'm limiting the amount of storage UD can use to something like 300mb. It's been that way since I had my old compy with much more limited HD space. I was just about to turn it up, but then I realized I need to clean some space out of that partition
and may I just say that my processor speed [1.5ghz] is exactly the same as the 100 pt baseline 1.5ghz p4. 29 points higher, just because it's an AMD

For storage space, it never actually uses it all, so even if there's not enough room you can set it to 10GB (max) as long as you have the capacity, at least I think that' show it works. It might still not give you all the points for it though, but I know it does not need all that space.

I'm at 120000 but I'm sure you'll catch up to me as my CPU has been too hot lately so I had to underclock a bit. Now it's running at 48C which ain't too bad. I think the new fan I installed probably has less cfm then the old one I had, but it did say 30 which I thought was allot.

My CPU temps don't read correctly. There's an issue with the sensor on the mobo. PC Alert reads it at 67C. MSI released a BIOS update that was suppose to correct it, but according to their forum, it does not work. The Pentium 4 is designed to power down if it becomes too hot. So far I have not seen any problems, so I will run it 24/7 at full load and if it shuts down from the heat, I hope it happens while it's still under warranty.

Yeah, I know that, but at the same time, not bumping it up yet is a reminder that I need to clean out some stuff. I went through most of it yesterday anyway, but I just need to wait till my next mass-burning night to finish it offRed Squirrel wrote: For storage space, it never actually uses it all, so even if there's not enough room you can set it to 10GB (max) as long as you have the capacity, at least I think that' show it works. Haha I do the same, I keep files I want to keep on my hard drive then when I reach about 700MB I burn it. It's mostly setup files from downloads though. You never know when the program will turn to shareware or decide to charge. So I make sure to keep the setup file handy in the event of a clean install. Even though I don't clean install often, I like to be prepared for one at any time, so in the event of a nuclear attack ... I mean virus, I can quickly do the clean install and not spend a day backing up.manadren wrote:Yeah, I know that, but at the same time, not bumping it up yet is a reminder that I need to clean out some stuff. hehe. I know what you mean, but I actually often end up waiting a long time and burning it all in one big lump, last time I think it took 3 or 4 cds between different apps, older games, patches and mods
In this case though it's a bunch of vids. They've been sitting there waitin gto be offloaded to cd for a while now, but one set needed overburning which roxio can't do that I know of [but I've got nero now ], and the other set, I though I was missing a few, but had just misplaced them

haha. I even have a CD with server logs on it. Pretty much all the logs from the start of this site to the end of the server, and there's a bunch of other stuff too. This other disk has most of the server data and local data at the time of the "crash". I'm glad I kept it all since I actually refer to it quite often.

strange. I just upped the amount of storage to 5gb, and though it hasn't been reflected on my ud client yet, my overall score went up to 100 - because my network score shot up to 117.
I'm guessing this must be calculated by the speed at which you obtain your next chunk of data from ud, because I just got a chunk a little while ago, when my cable connection finally cut back on after being down for a while. I'm guessing there wasn't alot of traffic around here because of the down time, which boosted the speed.

UD PC score
Overall 102 173
processor 93 195
Memory 100 300
storage 196 196
Network 100 35
The numbers are a litle unusual today?
the network scores are generally both around 57-63
The overall score on the second computer is usually 183 with the processor at 207
The network scores are based partly on time to send results, I think UD is in texas, however someone on a 28k modem in texas could have a lower score if there connection bounces all around the world on its way there. Usually people in the states potentially have better network scores with the quick connections and more direct routing.
