troubles with my windows Me fixed.
all the other posts i added to that had the different windows me troubles in have been finished in that post but i am going to run down the complete troubles in here so there is one post with all in it to make it easier to read
1 had mother board blow a cap. on
fixed bought new mother board. new cpu new case.
2 new power supply was not working.
had checked at local store it did not work from the factory.
bought new ps from store.
3 had trouble with mouse and computer needing rebooted every hour and a half.
fixed discovered it was a bad driver from the new sound card
which is a sound blaster live value.
i've been updating it so the drivers never were fixed.
i just disabled the bad driver from starting up.
4. was told the trouble the mb blown cap. caused was the video card by some one
at pc q & a. it was not the video card but i bought a new one on their
word now i have one that wont capture from my vcr which the last
one did.
found i need an analog capture card not a digital video one.
or i need a digital video vcr.
5 windows me is working good again i hope. i have not tested the cdrw or the dvd since i disabled the soundblaster driver.?
but all else seems to work.
now the only thing that is from the orginal store bought computer tower or bundle is the hard drive and the case fan and the toshiba dvd drive and the 225 mbs of sdram and the phone line modem and the old keyboard and monitor.
the rest is all new.
shuttle mb which handles both sdram and ddram.
amd althon duron 1.4 ghz cpu overclocked to 1.7 ghz.
power supply from local store 425 watts instead of 450 but it works.
new memorex cdrw.
cheiftech blue silver full tower matrix case.
ms optical mouse
ati 8500 radeon dv video card.
sound blaster live value audio card.

troubles with my windows Me fixed.
Hi.
I've got troubles with mouse, and it looks like that its because of my soundcard(SB Live! Value). Can you tell me more detailed info about how did you fix that troubles? Or you just got SB Live! off from your PC ?

there is a driver that is used by sound blaster live it starts up all the time with the computer bootup. it will continue for awhile but then you will start to see the mouse jerk across the screen and it acts like there is a memory leak on the computer or that it is hot. it seems to do it in about 1 to 2 hours of use of the computer.
then you have to reboot if you can get your mouse to the start button to shut down your doing good but most the time it locks up and you have to do a hard power off.
the way i got the driver disabled was by using a tweaking program called xteq setup you can get it at xteq.com i think that is the url or you can look for it at majorgeeks.com or most the other freeware sites. but it has a plugin system and there is one plugin that allows users to disable start up items.
true you can do this in the config panel but this soundblaster live driver seemed to re enable its self when i did that. so i got the big tweaking program out.
in case your wondering why i am chatting away? it is because i am waiting for the winme computer to boot so i can get in and see the name of the driver
now when you start the xteq setup program you need to go to the advanced users gui not the wizards
Ok here is the location you need to look for in xteq setups explorer tree.
go to the folder startup/shutdown open that folder and go to the folder startup, then open that one and go to the folder windows 9x/ME and open that folder, now look for the folder called 50) autorun - part 1 open that folder and look for the plug in called auto run services select that and you will see on the right side of the screen a text window showing you all the stuff that starts up at boot up.
Now be very careful here unless you know what they do or are used for dont disable any of them.
but this is the bad driver that shows up here. you can disable it. Devldr 16
select that in the window and then click the disable button.
then close the program and follow the instructions it tells you to do which will be either reboot or log off and log back on.
like i said you can disable it in msconfig but it might keep re enableing its self like it did for me.
so far using this xteq setup program it has not restarted on me, so far
good luck.
