Update[jan 10 07] - Special Shots + couple other things

Post by Red Squirrel »

*Feint now gives a -15% hit chance penalty to the defender, and has an existing swing speed reduction. (can't seem to figure the value of this, there's a variable that never seems to get a value, so I'm guessing it's variable based on the attacker's skill, or something) The animation also appears on the defender and not the attacker, seems more logical to me. Kind of like Ai, etc do it.

According to stratics:
Feint - Gain a defensive advantage over your primary opponent fo a short time.
Requires Bushido or Ninjitsu skill.

So not sure where they got the ssi reduction but I'm assuming they did some kind of research on this.

*Nerve strike now paralyzes for 5 seconds instead of 3 but the immunity has been increased from 8 to 10.

*Riding swipe now gives a 10 second paralyze immunity to the defender. Also, when used on a real pet, the pet must be fully healed before mounting, unless 10 seconds elapses.

*Neira now casts necro spells as well as magery

*Parry chance is now capped at 75%. I don't even think it's possible to get that high, but it's been capped just in case there is something I overlooked.

Note that these specials are open for change suggestion (proof/rpv of their workings would be nice too), as some/most of the values and workings I just made up or based it on what someone told me, so I would not call it OSI accurate. Keep in mind we're not OSI clone but for this type of stuff it does not hurt to at least be close enough.

I will continue fixing the other specials, and coding the ML ones, and doing updates, releasing a few at a time. I suggest you experiment with them and see if there are any flaws, and report them.

I believe feint may work a little something like this. I was trying to figure out the best way to describe it, so I looked up the word:

"A feigned attack designed to draw defensive action away from an intended target." from dictionary.com

So what it seems that feint does is give the attacker a defensive advantage over the opponent, but at that same time, draws the target's defense away. So perhaps when activated, the attacker gets a higher defense while lowering the target's defense?
