Multiple New Releases from Mozilla.org
Mozilla.org has released many new products recently. I just thought I would share them and create a place where we can comment about them.
<ul><li>Mozilla 1.4.1 - Released October 10, 2003 - Basically 1.4 plus bugfixes and a spellchecker.
1.4.1 Release Notes
</li><li>Mozilla 1.5 - Released October 15, 2003
1.5 Release Notes
</li><li>Thunderbird 0.3
Thunderbird Release Notes
</li><li>Firebird 0.7
Firebird Release Notes</li></ul>
[ Mozilla Development Roadmap ]
I haven't tried Mozilla 1.5, and I had no problems with 1.4.1. Firebird 0.7 and Thunderbird 0.3 are GREAT! Last time I tried Thunderbird (0.1), it was slow, but now it's wonderful.
As a matter of fact, I now use Firebird / Thunderbird instead of the Mozilla Suite. The Mozilla Suite is great too, but I just prefer the Birds now.

Mozilla 1.5, Firebird 0.7, and Thunderbird 0.3 were all released at about the same time. (Really, really close together...)Red Squirrel wrote: Cool, good idea to post it all in one shot. (this will also help bring people here when they type it in google )
Firebird:
I am using the Pinball theme with a few userChrome.css additions to hide the "Go" and "Help" menus. The only extension I am using at the moment is Toolbar Enhancements so I can have that "New Tab" button on the tab bar.
Thunderbird:
No modifications here since I just downloaded it today.

thunderbird is a mail reader, right? How safe is it comapared to Outlook with opening virii without your permission?

Thunderbird is much safer than Outlook, and it won't open anything harmful without your permission. JavaScript is disabled by default and you can set Thunderbird to "sanitise" HTML e-mails stripping them of everything but simple HTML or you can just view them as plain text.wldkos wrote: thunderbird is a mail reader, right? Mozilla Mail has these features too...
Thunderbird is good for me. I love it.
The theme for Thunderbird isn't finished yet, so you'll see some ugly icons that really don't match for right now...

Firefox 0.9 was released today
Changes
I’m going to upgrade today if I can find a MNG- and SVG-enabled build optimised for my processor.

I'm tempted to install it on a machine I'm working on.
But before installing stuff I'll let the nav scan go since it's at 18 viruses.

Mozilla 1.7 has been released!
Changelog
I don’t plan on downloading this. I still have Mozilla 1.4 (with MNG support ), and the UI hasn’t changed much, so I should still be able to use that as reference for helping people. Also, the Gecko in Firefox 0.9 is just as current as the one in Mozilla 1.7, so I don’t need it for testing my Web pages.
EDIT: This is the new stable developer’s branch replacing 1.4 , and the next version of Netscape will be released from it. (Yes, the next version of Netscape.)

Cool, I'll probably upgrade to 1.7. But since it has not really changed I won't rush too much. I want to wait until firefox is completly out of beta and I'll try it. I trust it now, but I want to get a bigger suprise to jump right to 1.0.

What I’m really excited about is the bug 235337 fix. Now we can have “zebra” rows. For example, the row of mail messages in Mozilla Mail or Thunderbird can have alternating background colours!
I wish they would have done it the CSS3 way though.
The 1.0 beta of Firefox is expected next month, and the 1.0 Windows release is expected in September. 0.9 was deemed “feature complete” in the roadmap, so if you get a bit impatient…
