For those of you in school, anyone get any awards?

I got 4.

- for always being on time and not one day absent
- over acheived in co-op
- over acheived in English
- over acheived in Physics

My name was in the newspaper as well as they showed all the awards.

Anyone else get awards? Share.

Various things, really. Knowledge bowl awards, reading awards, outstanding achievement awards, etc.

I have gotten perfect attendance awards for a long time too, but all you have to do is not miss a day for those, so it isn't a big deal.

I hate talking about these things because I always feel like I am bragging. :banghead:

Yeah high attendance ones are quite easy to get. I know a girl who comes to school for the first week then skips all the way then takes her exam, I'm not sure whether she passes or not, but I find they should not allow that. If you miss more than X days for unknown reasons they should make you fail, but if it's a good reason such as sickness than it does not count. But it's not like that.

I got a "Special Recognition for contribution to Theatre" along with a $20 gift certificate for a local music store, seeing as I give "Sound" advice (As was put in the card they gave me.) For those of you who don't know (I think Red's the only one on this forum that does) I do Lighting and Sound for my school's theatre, so a large portion of my time is dedicated to that.

It's always good to read about young people doing great things. :yo:

You're not bragging, tak. I like to hear about people's achievements.

That seems like a neat thing to do. B) I would love to do something like that, but I am not really the theatre type of person. I'm more of the math and science type person. I can't "think outside the box" as the old cliché goes... :banghead: I wish I could though. I admire those kinds of people that can make beautiful things like music and art. B)

Nope, it's not bragging at all.

I got a 99% average in math.

Now that is bragging (coming from me) because I actually got a 30. :roflmao2:

But I worked hard for that 30.

Everyone has his or her weak points, Red. :)

You're fluent in two languages, know multiple computer languages, etc. I would kill for that! :)

I can't wait to learn more languages. That is what I want to spend most of my life doing.

Yep, and being good in PCs but bad in math, I just don't understand why so many people associate both together.

You don't need to be able to know 10 formulas by heart and use them 100 different ways to install a video card or network a fiber network. :roflmao2:

:roflmao2: :roflmao2: Perhaps learning about computers is more practical than learning a million different formulae. B)

I didn't really get anything in high school.. that I remember anyway. Thoguh my diploma was an honors diploma with gpa and nhs awards. But the gpa things was just for keeping a 3.5 average, honors for taking advanced courses, and nhs jus tfor being in the national honor soceity. Funny thing about nhs though. I stopped goign to the meeting after the 2nd or 3rd one... then I basically decided it wasn't worth my time and stopped going thinking I'd quit. But when it came graduation time they didn't know that, so I bs-ed some community service hours. Never got my special sash, never was in the club picture, but I still got the little sticker on my diploma, and that's all that matters

At ECPI [a technical college] I got attendance and academic awards all the time, but the classes were easy as crap, and I was late for class all the time, so I never really put much thought into them.
