good point, I never heard of a virus that works in Linux.. is there any? Same with mac, never heard of any. They are all targetted at Windows, most likely because it's so easy to expoit. Viruses are not only about exploiting things, but when you can do stuff like break in the address book and stuff, it helps!

Of course there are viruses for Linux and MacOS. There aren't near as many as Windows though. :)

Takahita's right, unfortunately. There was an article not so long ago in the New-York Times about a virus-writer who was caught, and he'd written one for Linux :(

Hopefully, the little sod's doing time for it now, another good incentive not to write viruses, as you might get caught! I'm still shattered that a 'varsity course is offered in this subject! They must really be desperate to increase numbers of students on their campus!

actually viruses can't do much of anything in linux, unless you are logged in as root and are opening mail/downloading stuff. There are virii for everything, but since everything in linux is based off of permissions, the more you have, the more the virus can do.

I guess you got to understand how viruses are created to understand how to kill them.....
