Check out this article on how to avoid viruses. It works for me.

Nice article, Red. I've had to get a few bugs off my system and it's not fun. I never use an address book anymore.
I have friends that are always sending me things to open...I just hit the delete key! I have OE set so it won't download any attachments.

That's a good idea. I think I will delete all the contacts in my Windows Address Book and just use the one with Mozilla.I never use an address book anymore.
These viruses only target the address book that comes with OE, Outlook, and Windows, right? I mean, I don't think they would target the Mozilla address book.

The mozilla address book is probably too hard to exploit, if it's possible, it probably encrypts the addresses are does something smart to avoid this, so you should be safe using it, and not to mention it's less popular, so it's less targetted.

I am sure Mozilla doesn't encrypt them because I could make out the information when I opened the address book file with Notepad. It stores the address book in a .mab file--whatever that is...

Oh, so it's just text. But still, the virus would have to know how to read it.
